Hello, friends! Welcome to another season of Budgets and Cents, a podcast co-hosted by Cait Flanders (formerly Blonde on a Budget) and Carrie Smith Nicholson (Careful Cents). If this is your first time listening, we’re glad you’re here! This is our fourth season of the podcast, but you can catch up on all the episodes you’ve missed through our episode guide.

What comes up for you when you think about asking for help? Do you get anxious or feel any shame? As kids, we are constantly encouraged to ask for help, but at some point in our lives we start telling ourselves that asking for help is not okay. In today’s episode, we strive to break down the roadblocks that you encounter when thinking of asking for help, so you can get back to hearing and trusting your inner voice.

What advice would you give a friend? Why don’t we follow this advice ourselves? It’s not easy admitting that you can’t do everything yourself, but when you ask for help it can be very liberating. As we get into the episode, we also discuss some of the excuses that can come up when asking for help – it goes back to the stories we tell ourselves.

Finally, the one thing we want you to takeaway is that asking for help starts with just asking. Put yourself out there and see what happens. Asking for help can be such an empowering choice. So give it a try this week! What have you got to lose?
